The 2020 Black Herstory Year Calendars are ready!!! ✊🏿✊🏽✊🏾🌍🌏🌎Celebrate a different radical black womxns history each month through out 2020 with one of my illustrations and some quotes/inspiration to think about. This is the 4th year of illustrating these calendars and honestly the 2020 is the best one yet, it features all my favourite drawings from the last 36 months and updated descriptions/quotes. Black history is world history! Link to my shop in my bio! #blackherstory #illustration #calendars #myart

I had to push back the launch of the Black History Year 2019 calendars another day coz I really wanted to include an image of Oshumare, the Yoruba Orisha (West African Deity) of the rainbow, the water cycle and gender fluidity. When talking about queer history and black history I think it’s important we hold space for the multitudes of ways that gender was celebrated and expressed in precolonial African cultures. That history has been so violently erased but it has not vanished, like the rainbow after the storm our histories shimmer through in subtle but beautiful ways. #oshumare #oxumare #ośumare #blackhistory #orisha #yoruba #blackhistorymonth #blackhistoryyear
